JOYFUL      MUSIC                   be said and on which it is impossible

                                                If I were not a physicist, I
would probably be a musician. I
often think in music.  I live my
daydreams in music. I see my life in
terms of music. ...I get most joy in
                                                life out of music.

Why the Piano?

Piano is considered to be one of the most popular musical instruments.  Most of the music written by the world  famous composers is written for the piano.  All professional musicians that play other musical instruments usually are familiar with how to play the piano as well.

The piano is a crucial instrument in Western classical music, jazz, film, television, and most other complex western musical genres. Since a large number of composers are proficient pianists – and because the piano keyboard offers an easy means of complex melodic and harmonic interplay – the piano is often used as a tool for composition.

Early Childhood Music Education

Many parents wonder what would be the appropriate age for children to start their music education.  Based on our experience, children can be introduced to music as early as 3-4 y.o.  Of course, it is too early for them to start actually playing the musical intrument, but it is a perfect age to incorporate music as a playful game-like activity in their lives.

Exposing of the younger children to the classical music at the early age results in their early emotional development which, in its turn, leads to a well rounded perception of their surroundings and affects any other envolvements in different spheres whether or not music related.

For exemple, if your children decide to pursue later on dance, sports or singing, they most likely will be very successful in those areas.  Musical development also affects mathematical and reading skills, stimulates brain development, coordination skills, memory, levels of concentration and focus, as well as analytical abilities.

How Does It Work?

You probably wonder what do the music classes for children of 3 to 4 y.o. consist of?  Since it is too early for children of this age start playing a musical instrument, the music classes for younger children consist of the listening to different pieces of classical music intergrated with movement, artistic activities, visual imagery and verbal discussion.  All of it develops a positive attitude toward the music in particular and the learning process in general and leaves children wonder what's coming next.

Younger children will be though interact directly with the musical instrument right away and depending on their age, development and skill level learn to play simple melodies.  They will also learn musical terminology and basic theory appropriate for their level.  Each curriculum is designed individually, since there are no strict rules on when and how fast every child can learn.

Learning to Play the Piano

After the initial proper introduction to music, at some point (usually between the ages of 5 and 6) children express the desire of starting the actual playing of the instrument.  This is a very important moment, since the child himself initiates the learning process, not the teacher nor the parent.

Even though we believe that the early childhood music introduction is very beneficial for children, there is no "perfect age" for starting learning music.  Any age is perfect and appropriate.  It is never too early nor too late for your child to enter the world of music.

When the CHILD is ready regardless of his age, the teacher only plays the role a guide and helps the child on its journey of exploring the world of music.  So, the child is never forced into doing something he/she doesn't want, nor does he/she perceives the learning process as a boring activity.  One game just smoothly becomes another.
